PROFILE - LOUISA DODOS
Louisa is registered by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Counselling Psychologist Registrar. She holds a BPsych (Hons) and MA(Counselling Psych) from Curtin University and is registered as a Medicare Provider.
Louisa adopts a warm, active and empathic stance, using an integrative approach to therapy, having training in the cognitive-behavioural, schema, existential and psychodynamic orientations. Louisa aims to assist clients to gain insight and awareness into their present issues and long-term patterns in relationships and personality. Louisa holds the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist as central to effective treatment, while tailoring evidence-based treatments to presenting issues to reduce distress and enhance coping.
Louisa has experience working with clients across the lifespan, with a large portion of her training and work focused on providing psychological treatment to adolescents and young adults, working at The Youth Mental Health Foundation, headspace, as well as previously providing psychological assessment and treatment at a university counselling centre. Louisa has experience treating a wide range of disorders including anxiety disorders, mood disorders and life transition and adjustment issues, but holds a special interest in body image and appearance concerns and eating disorders.
