PROFILE - DOMINIQUE THATCHER

Dominique is a registered psychologist and Board-approved supervisor with a broad professional background in child protection, forensics, and educational settings. She completed her Bachelor of Psychology at Curtin University in 2016 and underwent postgraduate training through the Psychology Board of Australia’s 4+2 internship program.

Dominique began her career in the Murchison District, where she worked as a child protection worker and Specialist Child Interviewer. She returned to Perth to deliver therapeutic interventions for families experiencing complex psychosocial challenges. Dominique has also worked within the justice system, conducting psychological assessments and interviews with sentenced prisoners and providing evidence-informed recommendations for rehabilitation programs to reduce the risk of re-offending.

These diverse roles have equipped her with in-depth experience in trauma-informed practice, mental health, disability, and working with individuals from varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

Currently, Dominique works full-time as a school psychologist supporting high school-aged students, and she also conducts psycho-educational assessments at The Henry Street Centre. Her assessment work involves comprehensively evaluating cognitive functioning, academic achievement, and behavioural and emotional profiles to identify conditions such as Specific Learning Disorders, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is experienced in synthesising assessment data to inform individualised support plans and practical recommendations that enhance student engagement, learning, and wellbeing.

In addition to her clinical and educational roles, Dominique is a Board-approved supervisor committed to supporting early career psychologists. She is passionate about delivering holistic, strengths-based care that empowers young people and their families to better understand individual needs and foster positive developmental outcomes
