PROFILE - AMANDA HENDER

I am a registered psychologist who has completed a Masters in Psychology (Counselling) and have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of depression and mood disorders, obsessions and compulsions, anger issues, post-natal depression, gender and sexual identity, grief, addictions, trauma, sexual assault, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child protection and neglect. This experience occurred in numerous clinical settings such as the Western Australian Health Department, Corrective Services Department, Education Department, Child Protection Department, General Medical Practice and Communicare.

Previously I have held the position of Clinical Lead with Youth Focus assisting young people and their families who have experienced depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicide ideation. As well as providing clinical supervision and support to the clinicians working in the Rockingham/Peel and Bunbury regional offices.

 

Being of mature age I believe that my life experience plays a significant part in my practice and provides me with the understanding of both the individual and familial issues that may impact anyone across the life span. I have worked with men, women, adolescents, couples and families to help them to resolve and manage their issues.

 

My goal in practice is too assist my clients to find meaning and understanding of the issues that have and continue to impact them and the people around them. I am able to provide a broad and eclectic range of evidence based therapeutic styles to support my clients that recognizes and acknowledges their individual strengths and capabilities.
